i'm trying to add a folder as a trusted location to avoid the security warning every time i open access.

It's a folder on my network drive ans its subfolders.

I've ticked the box to allow network location and the box to include subfolders but i still get the error 'the path you have entered cannot be used' etc

What am i doing wrong, please?

Excel Facts

Highlight Duplicates
Home, Conditional Formatting, Highlight Cells, Duplicate records, OK to add pink formatting to any duplicates in selected range.
but i still get the error 'the path you have entered cannot be used' etc
What exactly does the error say?
It almost sounds to me like you are entering an invalid path.
Are you typing in the path manually or browsing to it?
Lastly, if you are not on your home computer but rather a network, you may want to check with your IT Department to see if there are any restrictions placed on those folders that won't allow you to do this.

thanks for your reply, Joe.

The error says:

"the path you have entered cannot be used as a trusted location for security reasons. Choose another location or a specific folder"

the path is Y:\access\learning

If i choose a specific folder inside that folder (Y:\access\learning) i get the same error.

I'm browsing to it

I'm on my laptop at home and the folder is on a diskstation NAS.

I'm using office 2007 and windows 7

I am guessing it is something related to your environment and/or permissions/rights.
I confess that I am not a network guy, so I really do not know what a "diskstation NAS" is.
