Hope someone can help. I've managed to get myself lost adding a number of days or COMPLETED formula. Essentially, I need to count the number of days since a task was completed so in J2 I've added =DATEDIF(I2,TODAY(),"d"). When the task is complete I need to add another date into K2 and for this to alter the record in J2 to the text COMPLETED. I've used Excel for years but am only now trying to write formula myself. Many thanks

Excel Facts

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
Perhaps =IF(K2<>"","COMPLETED",DATEDIF(I2,TODAY(),"d"))

Welcome to the MrExcel board!

Since dates in Excel are represented by integers, when dealing with days, you can simply add or subtract the dates rather than resorting to DATEDIF.

=IF(K2<>"","COMPLETED",TODAY()-I2)
