Add a line to a pivot chart

I have created a pivot chart (bar chart) with information about different items. I need to add a "target" line to the chart to show which items are running above or below the target. How do I do this? Thanks.

The usual answer is to add a new data series to draw the line, but a pivot chart cannot contain any data that's not part of the pivot table.

You could draw on the line (from Insert > Shapes).

You could make a regular chart from the pivot table (Making Regular Charts from Pivot Tables) and add a data series (Add a Line to a Column or Line Chart).

You can also create a calculated field with your target value.
