ActiveX Controls & Hidden Cells Issue in XL2010 - Resolved in XL 2013?

Hey folks,

Working on a project where I have multiple ActiveX combo boxes throughout a sheet, and through other actions, they are moved & sized with cells, therefore sometimes hidden. They cannot remain static, and I've noticed that when they are hidden & the workbook is saved & closed, the controls disappear, nowhere to be found, but Excel still recognizes the name of the ActiveX Control.

From what I understand in reading other threads, this is a fundamental issue with Excel 2010. I have seen that there are patches, but I am on a work computer & 1) don't have the authority to apply the patch & 2) don't feel comfortable applying it to my work computer. This makes things really tricky, as this is a project that I am trying to roll out, but having to recreate ActiveX controls & then rename the references in my code completely defeats the purpose of these controls - which is to streamline & expedite our current processes.

Form controls are not an option - I need the flexibility of ActiveX controls, & need to be able to move & size with cells.

Our firm is about to roll out Excel 2013, and was wondering if anyone with experience in 2013 has noticed these same issues? Are ActiveX controls more compatible with 2013? If so, I think we may just leave it as it is and apply Excel 2013 to our computers.

I appreciate your help with this matter.
