I'm a complete novice when it comes to access - does something like this sound possible?

I'm looking for something really easy to use from the GUI perspective maybe a horizontal scroll bar as my projects have a long duration.

Just looking for a bit of a steer initially.

Thanks

Excel Facts

Last used cell?
Press Ctrl+End to move to what Excel thinks is the last used cell.
You can insert Scroll Bar by:
Select Active X Controls from Controls group in the ribbon.
Then select Microsoft Form 2.0 ScrollBar from the lilst.
You can set it relative with your data by set the property Value, Min and Max.

If you want true Gantt chart capabilities with overlapping progress bars and staggered start - stop points, a progress bar will be pretty much useless I think - unless maybe you are willing to programmatically change their horizontal start points as well as their length. Even so, I don't get how a scrollbar is relevant because the moveable portion of it is simply a slider button. Perhaps I missed something in the OP or response. A rectangle might be more useful, albeit still having the same issues regarding position and length. Assuming you are not about to purchase MS Project, maybe Excel would be more useful. At least you could colour the cells by conditional formatting, even via linking with Access data. That would solve the issue of starting - stopping bars in mid timeline as well as allow you to govern the bar length and colour.
