I have a report that runs perfectly. I would simply like to add a rectangle Control in the detail section of the report. Everytime I try to add any Control to the report Access generates an Application Error and crashes! This also happens if I try to remove an existing Control from the report. Does anyone have an idea about how to fix this?

Sounds like you may have corruption issues.
Go to Tools | Database Utilities. In Access 97 there are 2 commands: Compact Database and Repair Database. In higher versions they are combined. Run them both and see how you go.
If you don't regularly do it already, you should run these at least monthly to keep the database healthy.
