Very much a novice with Access so please forgive me if the terminology is incorrect. I've created a form that I'm trying to filter based on a "value list" field named Bethel Sub-1. I only want Access to show records that contain "Active Adult" or "Active Youth" in the Bethel Sub-1 field. I noticed that when I tried to create a query, Access created a column called Bethel Sub-1.Value. Can this be done with my current set up, or will it be easier to create the drop down in Bethel Sub-1 using a table reference versus a field value drop down list? Any help is appreciated (I've been at this for 3 days now, I GIVE UP!!!)

You can create it that way but unless you have the control source set to something its not actually linked to anything. If you create a field in your table for the selection made in the combo box to reside in then you could easily filter your records by that criteria, with a query, then even create a report based off that query.

Sorry its hard to wrap my head around this without actually looking at.

Excel Facts

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
It really isn't recommended to use Lookups at table level.

They can just cause the sort of problems and confusion you seem to be experiencing.

It does take a little more work to set up a form for data input but it gives you a lot more options than
direct input to a table via it's datasheet.

Im not really advising a lookup in the table, no relationship or anything. Right now when you make a selection from that combo, all it applies to is that form. If you had a field in the table that the form was created from and housed what the selection was then you could filter the records in the table by that.

Right now it sounds to me like a form was created based on a contacts table, we went into design view, threw a combo box on the form, and set the values for it, in the properties or just clicked "I want to type my values". When you make the selection its never added to the table, so nowhere in the table is there actually a place that lists "active youth" or "active adult"

This may be going way over my head Norie, Im just trying to relate how I would go about it if I were doing it.
