Hi,

I have an access 2002 DB, it contains a linked table which is in a 97 DB, I cannot update any records in the linked table. Is 2002 not backwards compatible?

How to change case of text in Excel?
Use =UPPER() for upper case, =LOWER() for lower case, and =PROPER() for proper case. PROPER won't capitalize second c in Mccartney
I don't know the answer to your question but have a suggestion.

Why not import the 97 table into your 2002?

Or convert the 97 database into 2002? If you try opening the 97 database in 2002 it will probably ask you if you want to do that.

The Access 97 DB is the back end to a third party application, I am not sure what the effect would be on the application should I convert it as it probably uses access 97 specific connection strings etc

Surely later versions of access must be capable of writing into databases created in earlier versions?
