I have created an Access database which also runs in Access 2000 runtime. This has then been deployed on our company network for various users to access. It is not password protected in any way and is a shared database. Each machine in our comany has Access 2000 installed as part of a standard installation profile.

Although most users can access the database fine, some are asked for a user name and password. Does anyone know why this happens and what the username and password woud be in this case?

TIA
Regards
Dave

Excel Facts

What is the fastest way to copy a formula?
If A2:A50000 contain data. Enter a formula in B2. Select B2. Double-click the Fill Handle and Excel will shoot the formula down to B50000.

Does this happen with this database only or all databases?

If it occurs with other databases the Microsoft Access Workgroup Information file, SYSTEM.MDW may have been changed on the affected machines or for the particular users.

You might be able to solve the problem by replacing this file with one from an unaffected machine.

By default, I believe it's Login Admin with no password at all.
If it's changed, there isn't any way to guess other than to crack it.

I'd bet Nories' answer fixes it though.
