I've used the SEQUENCE function a couple of times.
Now when I try to use it, I get a #NAME error, and the function is no longer listed in the available functions list.
Have you experienced this before?
What happened?

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
Your profile indicates that you are on MS 2019. To my knowledge it is only available on MS 365 or possible MS 2021.
Do you sometimes use Excel Online ? It is available in the Online version.

It should be available in Excel 2019, in fact, it goes all the way back to Excel 2010. But, what is most curious is that I had just used it 30 minutes before. Then, suddenly, it was gone.

Sequence does not go back that far, it is only available with 365 & 2021. Maybe you are thinking of another function?

Yes, you're right. It's COUNTA() that goes back to 2010.
Now back to discussing SEQUENCE(): I had used it in an Excel spreadsheet that I got from someone else. Could this be the reason? I KNOW that I used it successfully, because I still have it.
But when I open a new spreadsheet, it's not available. Your explanation that SEQUENCE is not available in Excel 2019 is correct. Thank you. I feel better for it.
Now the mystery is why did it work in the other spreadsheet?

If you open a workbook that uses sequence it will work, up until the formula recalculates, at which point you will get a #NAME? error.

Well, here's what happened:
I downloaded the spreadsheet from someone else to my machine, so I'm using it offline. This workbook does not use SEQUENCE.
I opened a new sheet in the same workbook.
I used SEQUENCE in a column. It worked! But when I opened another sheet, it did not. It's like something was once working, then it stopped working.
That's what got me confused.

If you used sequence in the desktop app then you were using either 365 or 2021, however if you were using the browser version the it would be available.

No, I'm definitely on 2019. And I'm using the downloaded file, so I was not on the browser.
Thank you for staying with me. I don't want to beat this to death. I'll just go with your explanation that SEQUENCE is not available in 2019. Hopefully, I will get it when I upgrade.
Thanks for your help!
