So I have a workbook that has line numbers 1,2,3 at the top and then has the alpha column headers and then the standard row numbers. I can't figure out how to delete the lines 1,2,3 above the column headers. Can someone tell me what they are and how to delete. If I copy and past to a new workbook they tag along.

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
It sounds like you may have some data grouped somewhere on the sheet, most likely unintentional? Anyways, on the Data tab, look for the "Outline" section and select "Ungroup" then "Clear Outline" or "Ungroup".
