how to force new window to open

It used to be that when i opened a new excel file, windows would give each file it's own page on the shortcut bar at the bottom. But something happened and the only way for me to switch between files is under the WINDOW selection on the top taskbar. (this is not the same as windows "stacking" like windows.)

how can i get it back to separating the files when i open them?

Check that you have Tools>Options>View tab and Windows in Taskbar checked.

EDit the registy:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.x\shell\Open\command ------>Add "%1" at the end.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.x\shell\Open\ddeexec-------->delete the sub items

(Excel.Sheet.x,x=appication.version)
