I am an avid Excel user but have only recently stumbled across the Power BI bundle after convincing IT that I needed the latest and greatest in 2013 (of course newer is always better...right?). After a month of building prototype dashboards using Power Pivot I am developing buyers remorse as I come across frequent references on the various Power BI blogs to the fact that "such and such was available in 2010 but is not in 2013".

Just curious of the general opinion of heavy Power Pivot users as to whether they are running 2010 in lieu of 2013 because of known limitations of 2013.

Also curious if anyone has a resource that lines up the capabilties of each version?

Thanks.

Best way to learn Power Query?
Read M is for (Data) Monkey book by Ken Puls and Miguel Escobar. It is the complete guide to Power Query.
Such as what? I use 2010 and 2013, and I admit that moire and more I just develop Power Pivot models in 2013, and use 2010 for for traditional Excel stuff. I am struggling to think what 2010 has that 2013 doesn't. In 2013 the data engine is part of Excel not the addin, so that means that you can have multi-table pivots direct from Excel as well as Power Pivot.

Don't worry about it.

Yes, I prefer 2010, but it's just for "ease of use" UI candy, nothing with the actual power of the language, etc. If you are used to 2013 already... just keep rockin' it :)
