2010 Fill Patterns (Custom?)

I've noticed the fill pattern options within Format Cells is fairly limited. My 2010 Excel version has a total of 18 choices to choose from. I'm curious as to whether there are any available add-ins or custom methods to create your own pattern? I'm in the process of coding a spreadsheet to serve as a sort of black-box to create logs, and I'd like to hard code the cells with a pattern rather than importing an image that could drift or not become fixed to the cells of interest.

If there is code available to alter the current options, please enlighten me. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

How can you turn a range sideways?
Copy the range. Select a blank cell. Right-click, Paste Special, then choose Transpose.
To add to the question I posted earlier, I'm dealing with xlPattern Enumerations. There seems to be a pretty limited library of Checker/Up/Down/Gray etc and the library for msoPattern has a lot more options. Two questions;

1) Can you somehow use msoPattern to fill cells?
2) Can you add to the present xlPattern library?
