hi- in excel 2007 and 2010, the show pages function is not working in my pivot table. I have used this feature TONS in 2000. Any idea what the issue is? I can see the button, but it is greyed out.

Background- the pivot table data source is an exernal database.

thanks in advance for any suggestions--- this is driving me nuts!

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
Re: 2007/2010 Pivot table "Show Report Filter Pages" option

Just to clarify--- in Excel 2007 and 2010, the option it is called "Show Report Filter Pages". It was called show pages in Excel 2000. Sorry for any confusion. No matter what we call it, it is not working as expected.

I finally figured it out!!!

My external data source is an OLAP cube and apparently there are limitations in OLAP pivot tables. Along with other functions, the show pages command is disabled. Found the answer on page 190 of Pivot Table Data Crunching for Excel 2010 and verified by trying some of the other functions that have been disabled when using an OLAP cube.

Sure enough, when I went into the Connection Properties of the External Data Source, on the Definitions tab, I see OLAP ICube.......
