Ram 16 or 32 GB for MacBook for large Lookup files?
 

Excel Facts

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
I think it's unlikely to make a lot of difference at that level, unless you are currently running into memory problems.
 
If they are REALLY large, other applications may work better for that kind of task, like Microsoft Access or SQL.
It really depends on exactly what it is that you are trying to do and how large the files are.
