I have a range of numbers which are preceded with a letter, e.g. A1392, A1587, A987, A3021, etc. Is there a way to find the maximum number of the numeric portion without using a help column?
I have downloaded data from the internet in column A and it all appears as numbers however when I write a formula on column B using those numbers it doesn't work.
I notice a ! in column be that says the number is formatted as text or preceded by an apostrophe.

I am using below criteria to search exact string out of a column of string
sCriteria = "*" & " " & Range("H" & i).Value & " " & "*"
But it only picks up the word that is preceded and followed by a word.Even if I add space at the start and end of string.
