pivot tables in Excel/macros

I would like to record a macro that will create a pivot table for weekly data that I have to compile. What I've found is the pivot table always refers back to the spreadsheet that I recorded the macro on, instead of the new spreadsheet on the following week. I've tried recording using the relative command but no luck. Any ideas?

Hi Cat,

When you go to tools record new macro it will ask you to record Macro in(This workbook,new workbook or personal Macro workbook)
Choose personal Macro workbook and then when you record the Macro you should be able to use it with any spreadsheet.
