Can you start a macro from a function?

Just wondering if I am correct that you cannot start a macro from a function?

If you mean something like
=IF(A1="Start",MacroName)

Then no. But you can set paramaters to do basically the same thing, usually. For instance in the example above you can set a macro to begin if someone enters "Start" in A1 by placing the macro in the proper area of your project.

If you want to be more specific in what you are trying to do, maybe we can help out a little more.
