Pivot table sorting

Greets!

I'm doing performance testing of our search engine and need data in a specific (its original) order, but when I create a pivot table to average all of my page times, it auto sorts it alphabetically. I've tried playing with the various settings I could find but I can't figure out how to fix it.

Any help here is greatly appreciated!!

Here is my list of original steps:

Load Login Page
Load DB Selection List
Select Atla / Load MSP
use mesz
Mortality/
Hypoplastic left heart syndrome/
ACID REFLUX.mp.
CARDIOVASCULAR SURGERY.mp.
constipation/ or diarrhea, infantile/
cell.mp.
FERTILIZATION IN VITRO/mo
(spending and depression).mp.
*Depressive Disorder/cl, th
docz.dz
..o

Here is the order the pivot table throws up:

(spending and depression).mp.
*Depressive Disorder/cl, th
..o
ACID REFLUX.mp.
CARDIOVASCULAR SURGERY.mp.
cell.mp.
constipation/ or diarrhea, infantile/
docz.dz
FERTILIZATION IN VITRO/mo
Hypoplastic left heart syndrome/
Load DB Selection List
Load Login Page
Mortality/
Select Atla / Load MSP
use mesz

I need the table to reflect the exact steps...:(

THANKS!

If you type over the current headings for your data with the EXACT name of the heading you want to change it to, you can easily do this. For example, if your data reads:

Apple
Banana
Grape
Orange

but you want it to read Orange, Grape, Banana, Apple, just type right over it.

Type Orange where it says Apple, etc....

Apple

I appreciate this answer, and may do it for some of the shorter ones..problem is, I'm pulling this information out of a database and some of my pivot tables can have over 100 steps to report on. That would be very time consuming. One would think that I could easily do this since the data is there..I shouldn't have to re-enter it..

Thanks Dee!

Hi Ron

when constructing your Pivot Table, in step 3 (Table layout) double click on "Row" heading and select "Advanced" then check "Manual" from the "Auto sort options"

Hi Joe!

Can you identify the range you want to select as a named range and just copy that instead? One caveat, you want to be careful inserting/deleting with a named range when ever you insert or delete along the "edges". If the row/colum you are inserting is not between the top/bottom/right/left boundaries the insert might not be considered to be part of the named range you are dealing with.

Just a thought,
