Pivot Bloody Tables

Posted by Peter on November 22, 2001 5:17 PM

I have created a pivot table to collect my data and display it and it works great BUT

I then went to reuse this table for something totally different and the labels in the headers of each column in the pivot table showed the old values and the new values.

I need to know how to reset the contents of these drop down select boxes in pivot tables to the actual data rather than the data that used to be there.

If you need a further explaintion contact me via email please

peter
i think resetting your data source may fix this. right click somewhere in the pivot table and select the 'wizard' item from the menu which will show the pivot table wizard. use the 'back' button to go back to step two and re-enter the data range you want.

Nope this does nothing to reset those drop-down boxes. Apart from redoing the Pivot Table i can't find an option for it

Select pivot table, Right Click, select Refresh.

That justs updates the data but leaves all the old values available in the drop-down box. the pivot table works as it should just when i select the data drop-down box i see all data even stuff that is no longer there

I have the same issues with Pivot Tables. The only thing that seems to work for me is to rename the field in the data (either by adding a 1 or space to it) so Excel reads this as a new data element.

This will clear the drop down list but will also remove the field from your pivot table. You'll then have to add the field again and make any new field formats all over again.

Let me know if this works.
