Can anyone tell me what the Tools|Options 1904 Date System does?

See the Excel Help topic for "How Microsoft Excel
performs date and time calculations". And under-
stand that Excel was originally written for the
Macintosh which is based on the 1904 date sytem.
It wasn't until Excel was ported to Windows
that the 1900 date system option was necessary.
