Tab-delimited import...Columns -> Rows?

Running into a problem with a tab-delimited file that has several hundred variables to contend with. Each variable is assigned to its own column, which is fine, however since Excel97 won't give me more than 256 columns I'm losing a huge chunk of the data. The data is of a sample-location(row) sample-result(column) nature and can't be changed, i.e. I can't just switch the two prior to import. Anyone know of a quick & easy VBS ssolution to read the file's column data into an Excel spreedsheet's rows and the file's rows into Excel's columns??

Brad,

If you don't receive a response from a VBA coder, I have this to offer you....

If you have an NT workstation loaded with the MS Resource Kit, you can write scripts that can extract the info you need and place them in a smaller file. Thereafter, importing to Excel ought to be a sinch. (Did I spell that right??)
