SQL request returning #N/A

If a SQL request returns #N/A in all cells, does it mean it can't connect, or that the request is wrong?

Thanks

Ann:

Do you have your Excel helpfiles installed? If so, both the question your asked about SUMIF and this question could have been quickly answered by checking the help system.

#NA, as a message from Excel, means that no value is available.

I couldn't find what I was looking for in the Help files. Sorry if I wasted your time, but I'm new at this, in case you hadn't guessed.
