Sorting multiple items in Excel?

Help!
Here is what I am trying to do..
I have a small customer list I put into Excel.. 1 row for each customer with Customer name, address etc and then in a cell called follow up I put a date in for each customer which changes daily.
How can I make it so it sorts by the date I have in that cell..ie (listing all the follow ups from 12/20/01 before the 12/21/01 customers?
I tried highlighting just the follow up cell and did sort ascending/descending but it only sorts the 1 cell, not the entire row for that customer.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

Rick.
excel only sorts by those cells selected. since you only selected one column it only sorted by that column.
try selecting the entire range.. names/addresses/ dates and all the info.
then when you select sort it will ask you by which column, or column title.
this will sort the entire record set and keep the names/addresses/and dates together.
