Scrolling formating help

Posted by S. Davis on August 21, 2001 5:44 AM

I have a long spreadsheet that I would like a portion of to be able to scroll up the screen, but keep the column headings fixed.

To be exact, I have row 6 that contains column headings and row 67 contains totals. I would like rows 7 to 66 to be able to scroll "under" row 6 so the user can see the column headings as they are entering data.

Thanks,
S. Davis

Hi

Go to cell A6

Select the menu Window | Freeze Panes

This freezes the rows above and/or columns left of the selected cell.

Freeze Panes

See if this is what you are looking for. Select cell A7, go to Window-->Freeze Panes and see if that's the behavior you're looking for. It will also freeze columns to the left of the cursor selection if you select a column other than (A). To remove the freeze just go back to Window-->unfreeze panes. Also if you only want to see row 6 (and not rows 1-5), then prior to freezing, scroll down until only row (6) is visible at the top of the screen.
