Saving worksheets as templates

I'm trying to save a worksheet as a template for use in Excel97.

I've tried File/Save as template, but each time it is opened it does not create a copy of the original template. I've tried copying all the sheets to a new workbook and saving again but to no avail.

Is there some option that is preventing this?
thanks.

Use Excel Help and look for location of settings. It depends on how the computer has been set up as to where templates for Excel are stored. Once you've established that, save yoour template in that location. It's usually in c:\windowsnn\Profiles\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates. Hope this makes sense.

thanks Richard,

I've found the place for template storage \program files\MS Office\templates.

But no success, it always opens the original and never creates a copy. very strange

Brians works fine, too. Just change 95 to .95, 90 to .9, etc. to properly compare your percent.

Good luck Brian, thanks for your quick response. I entered what you gave me into the cell, but no matter what, it comes up 0.00% Have I done something incorrect or is a parameter missing or something? I'm very new to this so I'm pretty clueless.
