Reference Libraries

When in the "Reference Libraires" Where would I find what each of the Reference libraies control. I cannot find any documentation as what these libraies control and how they control the application you are writing. Often I have gone in blind using the standard MicroSoft Libraties.
I am looking for documentation that explaines what they are and How they work.
Any suggestions???

Hi Neville,

I have not found any written documentation of all the reference libraries, but have found that one can determine what each of them contains via the Object Browser by restricting the libraries being browsed to only the one of interest via the library selection dropdown. Once you set that library, its classes, objects, properties, methods and events will listed in the browser, and if any of them have help files you can display those as well by right-clicking on that item and selecting Help.

Damon, Many thanks for that. Second question are there any books out there that I can buy for the definition of these Libraries? I have tried Microsoft But NEVER seem to get Anywhere with them (There is no such thing as a straight answer with them).

Hi again Neville,

I haven't seen any such references, and tend to doubt that they exist because there are so many products that are provided, and many of them are from third parties. I suggest you post this question on the Microsoft Excel programming board at

Good luck.
