Protecting Excel Sheets

I have 2 questions.

1) Can I insert new rows and columns eventhough the Excel sheet is protected? I am not able to do so. I have to unprotect the sheet everytime to do this.

2 Once a new row is entered, is there a way to automatically get the formulas in those new cells to appear, or do I have to keep cutting and pasting the formulas from the previous row?

1) No. Protecting a worksheet means that you can not modify the sheet without unprotecting it.

2) Instead of inserting a row, then copying the and pasting the formulas, you could try right-clicking on the row with the formulas and choose copy, then right-click on the row below where you want to insert and choose Insert Copied Row(s). That might be a touch faster.
