pipe delimited files

can an Excel file be saved as "pipe" delimited...I have not found a way to do so

You could save it as a tab-delimited file and
then edit the resulting file replacing all
instances of tab with pipe. Or you could save
it as Formatted Text (.prn) if you don't mind
an additional trailing spaces for each field.
You'd need to use a monospace font such as Courier,
expand all column sizes using AutoFit and insert
a column for each pipe.
