Paste greyed out???

I have a file that on sheet 1 when i copy a cell and
try to paste the paste icon is greyed out, on sheet 2
it works??? Any ideas as to why this is happening.

Is the sheet "protected"?
From the menu bar: Tools / Protection
What does the submenu indicate: Protect or Unprotect? If the latter, then the sheet is currently protected with a pasword, which disables the function you are trying to use.
