Opening a document created in 2000 with 95

I have office pro 95 and have received a an excel document created with office 2000. How can I open it.
When I tried opening with my version of excel I got an error message saying that "file format is not valid".

You need to ask the person who created the document (or someone else who has 2000)
to save the file down to 5/95 Format.

Re save in E95 but careful formatting could go and E97+ have diff ways of working so not 100%.

If you just want to bastardise the data, open in MSedit and save as ABC.99 File and open the saved in Excel could work but is limited, at least you can read.

Best we thank Microsoft for lack of backwards compatability, but ... we all love Excel
