merge cells

I often merge cells to build templates. I'll typically highlight columbs B1:K1 for example. I'll set the alignment to the top left with text wrap and merge cells. Sometimes I'll do this dozens of times in a session. Is there a macro or something that can speed this process up?

Try using the macro recorder to create a macro.
