Linking two excel sheets across a network

Hi,
Can anyone help!

I am trying to link two spread sheets together on two separate machines.

I can do this across the network to open both sheets on the same pc copy
and paste the links into the one sheet, which works fine and will read the
data then stored on the hard disk of the other machine. BUT it will not read
the live data held within the spread sheet on the remote pc!

Anybody any ideas what i am doing wrong?

P.S. I am running excel 97 sr2 on win95

I saw you said one machine was win95, but what about the other.
Don't know if this will help, but here is what I found.
Using the information at the following link, I set up a sucessful live link between xl97 running on win98se and either my winnt or win2000 machines.
