Re: Ouch, sounds like an unhappy ending
Hi Jeff:
Not the answer you are hoping for, but it sounds like your data is gone for good. You're in good company, it has happened to beginners and advanced users alike. Not to sound funny, but this experience is like forgetting your mother's birthday -- do it once and you won't forget it again. You might try using the AutoSave feature. Good luck to you.

Re: forgot to save my data: Not bad enough for the Darwin Award, but you've got to admit....it's close!
PAINFUL But.... not to get excited thou!
:: OK Autosave is the answer, but be careful, Autosave is poor and trashs xls files, just a geeky thing. CTR+S or button save.
TOP TIPS: i work in finance on 200 uesr network and data loss will happen. I tell EVERYONE this
CTR+S everytime you swith sessions so got to databse
CTR+S when you leave your desk (NO matter what)
Also try to put add-in Auto save and set to one minute so crash less painful.
Im working on VBA to save a little diff E2002 save better - but i haver not been caught out in 10 years now and many others have and will.
Sorry mate, if you had once saved it go looking in temp or recovered docs (xls) start find *.xls else its bad news.
Exl does ask save or not if you close ??? odd that.
