I meant XP in the message below -- not XL! It's almost 5 and I'm wiped out. Forecasts suck (especially in this quarter!).

64 x 1,024 = 65,536 rows (nt)
BTW... Control+Down Arrow shows the last row (nt)
I have always thought it was stupid to have this limit. Is there a reason for this? I see Mark posted 64X1024 which leads me to believe there is. : I meant XP in the message below -- not XL! It's almost 5 and I'm wiped out. Forecasts suck (especially in this quarter!). : Matt :
Who knows? Maybe Excel's memory manager isn't efficient if it's trying to do calculations on that many cells, so they limit it. Remember this is a spreadsheet program, not a database program. If you need more rows then you will need to separate it on another worksheet. I have always thought it was stupid to have this limit. Is there a reason for this? Why do you think this limit is "stupid"? (nt)
I originally asked the question of how many rows because I know the constraints of Office 97 and had heard that Office XP may have been designed with new architecture (something about a 64 bit instead of a 32 bit) so perhaps the mathmatical constraints that limit me to 65,536 would be gone. I am maxing out worksheets quite a bit and I needed to know if I should hurry out and get a copy of XP for the extra rows. I guess I should keep what I have.
