Excell page setup

The file is on the network. when I open it and go to print preview, I want it to fit on one page but it shows more than 1000 pages. Every time I try it is different number of pages. I had to manually format the worksheet to fit on one page.
Any idea why it happens?
It's office 97.

Have you set the print aera? (File->Print area->set print area)

Sounds like you have a stray entry in a odd cell say GH567 (I made that cell up dont check it honest) so that the cells are empty and report print at 1000 pages.
Impossible to check them all :
I gues you have say 20 columns buy 50 rows or less copy them all (thats all the data you need and open new SS paste and rename the original ss as xyz_old and the new as xyz and then re format as will be lost.. try save the ss, print preview. will be 1 2 3 or so pages you can cope with.
