Excel File size

I have a file which has increased in size over the period of time. The current size is 25MB. Is there a risk of the file getting corrupt due to the big size?
Also, is there a way to eliminate the unwanted space and reduce the size of the file? In MS Access there is a way. Not aware of any such thing in Excel.
