Excel: Custom Format Question

Posted by Hoholski on September 18, 2001 2:01 PM

In Excel 2000, I am having difficulty coming up with a
good example for the following:
In what case would you use the following custom number
formats (located under Format: Cells: Number tab:
Custom)
(#,###.00);RED (#,###.00);0.00; "text"@
I'm looking for a good example to use in a classroom setting.
If you can help, that'd be great!

Lets say you have in A1:A6 the following data: {15;-2;0;Hello;0.1;-0.34}

A1 would show --> (15.00)
A2 --> (2.00) in Red
A3 --> 0.00
A4 --> texthello
A5 --> (.1)
A6 --> (.34)

By the way, i think that the RED word must be in [ ] in order to work properly.

This isn't a valid number format! NT
