Excel close button is ghosted out and won't work.

Can someone please help me. My close button in Excel 2000 has ghosted out and you can't click on it. I have to do File-Exit to close excel now.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

More fun with Excel being a little pig eh?
OK what i would do is delete the normal.xls document and then re boot and open Excel in norm way will force Excel to re make normal .xle file and open new version or Exel file. should heelp or VERIFY if on network as well if Excel no local drive ie IT dept drive
