creating a text file in notepad from excel

I want to take information in certain cells and create a text file in notepad. I can create the format, and have notepad open. The big question is how do you get the infromation into notepad?
Any ideas would be great. Saving the excel file as a text causes me formating issues that I would rather not deal with.
