Copying cell fills, formats and values

Posted by Tony Harvey on September 14, 2000 6:13 PM

I have a master sheet which displays text values
in cells. The cells are colour coded also.

I need to link the master sheet to some slave sheets
so that when the text value of fill colour changes in
the master sheet it automatically changes in the slave
sheets

I've tried paste link and can get formulas or values
to change but not the fill colour.

HELP! It's driving me crazy, I'm sure the answer is
simple and under my nose!

Cheers,

Tony

Conditional Format only gets me part of the way there, unfortunatly it only supports three possible conditions, I need at least eight!

I tried Copy>Paste Special>Format but that only gives me the format and "loses" the cell value....
Good idea though, thanks for the tip...

Tony
But if you are happy with doing it manually and you want formats/formulas/values to be the same, then Copy>Paste does it. Otherwise, VBA is probably the only alternative.

Tony
What are the criteria for assigning the colour codes? Perhaps conditional formatting can be used to automatically assign colours on all sheets including the master sheet?

Post Script

Post Script :-
If you want to do it manually, Copy>PasteSpecial>Format should do it.
