Converting text to numbers

I'm still looking for a way to convert text that I've downloaded from a web site to numbers. Does anyone have ideas?

Have you tried entering 1 in a blank cell, copy it, highlight your target cells and choose paste special, check the multiply radcio button.

Dee,
I have run into this problem when importing numbers from an Access Database. All you have to do is what Richard has said.
1.)Place the number 1 in any blank cell
2.)Right click and select cupy
3.)Select desired cells to convert to numaric
4.)Right click and select Paste Special
5.)Select Multiply and hit OK
This should convert your cell from text numbers to numaric.
