Changing automatic links to manual

I've inherited a large spreadsheet with many automatic links to numerous other workbooks. How can I change these links to manual update only. The manual option is NOT available in the Edit/Links dialog box.

Using the Tools Options... menu command uncheck the
"Update remote references" check box on the "Calculation"
tab.
