change file-new default workbook settings to a custom layout

Does anyone know how to make the dafault NEW workbook (File New) open with a custom workbook (with settings I prefer to use on all worksheets, ie, fonts, headers, zoom ot view, etc.

(Word uses Normal.dot but I can not find documentation on Excel or Excel's equal to Normal.dot in Word)

What I would really love to do is by default have any new workbook open with the settings i prefer so I don't have to duplicate the format on each new workbook

Hi,

I think if you put a copy of the default worksheet in to the following directroy that excel will automatically open it when excel starts.

the directoryis:
......Program Files\Office\Office\XLSTART

or where ever your XLSTART directory is located.

I think this should work, but I am not 100%

You must save as a template named book.xlt
