Centigrade Symbols

Hi
Does anyone know if it is possible to get Excel 97 to display the Degree Centigrade symbol properly as it easily does with the % symbol. This may seem a minor matter but at present I am making up sheets and the only way I can display the symbol is to insert a circle as a drawing object, this looks very unprofessional.
I would be very greatful fr any feed back on this.
Regards
Robert

To get this type Alt 0186 for Arial font
For other fonts then use the Character map
and look up the applicable key strokes for that
Font..........

Robert,

Select "Format | Cells..." from the menu.

When the Format Cells dialog box appears, select the left-most tab labeled "Number."

Select "Custom" from the list box on the left...
...then on the right-hand side, define your custom number format in the box labeled "Type": in your case, type the number you would like to display using "0" (e.g. if you want to display your number without decimals, just type one 0--if you would like to display your number with 2 decimal places, then type 0.00, etc.)

After you have decided how you would like to display your number, at the end of your number format, use the following keystrokes:
alt+0176 (hold down the alt key and while holding down, type the numbers 0176, then let go of the alt key.)

for example: (typing this)--> 0.00 (followed by this)--> (alt+0176) will result in any cell you format with this looking like this --> 33.87°

You can set up any custom format you wish using this method. (For a listing of keystroke combinations for different symbols, use Character Map.)

hope that helps...rm
