Cannot open Excel files from windows explorer

I have a problem with not opening Excel files from windows explorer.

However, can open these files from the excel application itself.

How can I fix this problem?

If the file names of the files do not have the extension .xls, Windows Explorer will not be able to pass such files to Excel. Maybe is this the problem?

Your computer might not be set up to veiw xls files with excel. You can check this from Windows Explorer by clicking on TOOLS-FOLDER OPTIONS and then selecting the "File Types" Tab. Then scroll down to xls and see if it is set up to open with MS Excel.
