asteriks or footnote in a cell that wont mess up formula

I need to put a footnote in a cell(or supersript letter) in a cell so I can explain a number yet I still want to run formulas on that cell IF I put the superscript letter then the formula won't work any suggestions

Hi Sean,

Why not just put a comment in the cell? If you want the fact that the cell contains a comment to be indicated (by a red triangle in the upper right corner of the cell) simply go to Tools -> Options -> View tab -> select the Comment Indicator option. This will have no effect on the formulas or cell formatting, and does allow superscripting/subscripting, etc., although I think it eliminates the need.
