Vlookup or similar function

I have two spreadsheets containing various types of data on my firms clients. My problem is the client names don't match exactly so when trying to extract the data using vlookup unless i have a perfect match on the name it fails. Any ideas as to how to quickly identify the clients?

Doesn't VLOOKUP also find the nearest match, not just the perfect match ?

try using =TRUE in the last arguement instead of =FALSE....... this might help depending on how much of a match you have to work with
