Is there any way to enter text and a number in one cell and still have excel add the sum of the cells? Example A1=5, A2=5, A3="T"5, A4= sumA1:A3 should be 15. Thanks Paul

Not very easily -- if at all. May I ask why your
designing a worksheet that requires this function-
ality?

Format cells - Custom - choose 0 (the 2nd choice). Edit it
with "A1" 0. That only gets you one format, so you have
to repeat for each number.

:Why not use the function N =N("some text in here")gives zero as an answer and can be added to a formula or number in a cell without affecting the numerical calculation.HTH.
